Why Consigned items and the LABEL?

As islanders we make use of the resources at hand.  In life and in fashion everything is better with a story, a connection. The HISTORY. We begin this journey in our love for consigned items, basic t-shirts, and sweatshirts that tell a story, OLD and NEw. 

The label we have created is to honor the resources used and our cultural tradition of passing items on as they collect mana along the way.  Especially in our ohana. If you turn your label over you will see 4 lines. We encourage you to write your name or location on the the line.  Should you pass the item on to a family member, friend, or someone else in your community; they can see where the item has been. We seek to keep items in use through sharing and/or repurposing.

OHANA IAPANA

INIはハワイ語の'I'INIを表します。その意味は以下の通りです。
'I'INI for HAWAII - ハワイ---への強い想い、憧れ;への望み、希望;が大好き。

これらのデザインは、INI HAWAII (イニ ハワイ) の日本と日本の家族への愛情を表現しています。
この愛情（アロハ）の源となっている思いがあります。まず、私たちの中にはハワイアンと日本人の両方を祖先に持つものが多くいます。また、歴史上の事実としてハワイと日本が1800年代から政治的、文化的、社会的に密接につながってきたことをとても栄誉に思っています。そしてハワイの島々、日本の島々の人びとは、同じ太平洋の海とともに暮らし分かち合ってきました。さらに個人として長年にわたり、貴いアロハの心を通じて、私たちの島々そして自然環境との関係を築いてきました。
私たちは、これらのデザインがハワイと日本、お互いの祖国と両国の繋がりを表す誇りの源でありますよう願っております。IAPANA NEIはハワイ語、そしてHAWAII DESUは日本語です。
すべてのアロハをこれらの島々へ送ります。
